Norik started playing Shvi at age of 10 in his native town Yerevan, Armenia. Through self-learning he achieved such a professionalism that at age 17 Norik was accepted as a soloist in the Armenian State Dance Ensemble and remained a member of that orchestra for three decades. He performs on four different instruments: Dududk, Zurna (reed trumpet), Shvi (Armenian shepherd flute), and Clarinet and his repertoire extends form middle-Eastern traditional music to ancient sacred melodies to the contemporary world music styles. Norik’s haunting Duduk playing commanded the soundtrack for the “Dead Man Walking” and numerous other scores for gild and TV. Over the last 40 years Norik captivated audiences worldwide and has established loyal fans in Europe, Asia, Africa and United States.
